Commissioner’s Park

Commissioner’s Park is located at Dow’s Lake along the Rideau Canal, between the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Carling Avenue, east of Preston Street, across from the Dow’s Lake Pavilion. There is a pay parking lot located across the street from the park, at the corner of Prince of Wales and Preston (the Queen Elizabeth Driveway becomes Prince of Wales Drive south of Preston Street).

From Toronto/Ottawa West:

  1. Exit Highway 417 at Rochester Street, Exit 121B
  2. Turn right to head South down Rochester Street
  3. Turn right onto Carling Avenue
  4. Turn left on Preston Street
  5. Follow Preston through to the Queen Elizabeth Driveway

From Montreal/Ottawa East:

  1. Exit Highway 417 at Bronson Street, Exit 121 A
  2. Merge onto Catherine Street
  3. Turn left to head South down Bronson Street
  4. Turn right to head West on Lakeside Avenue
  5. Turn right to head North-West on the Queen Elizabeth Driveway

Major’s Hill Park

Major’s Hill Park is located along the length of Mackenzie Avenue, just a short walking distance from the ByWard Market, bounded by the Fairmont Château Laurier to the South, the American embassy to the East, the National Gallery of Canada to the North, and the Ottawa River to the West.

  1. Exit Highway 417 at Nicholas Street, Exit 118
  2. Merge onto Nicholas, heading North
  3. Take a slight right to stay on Nicholas
  4. Continue through onto Waller Street
  5. Turn right onto Rideau Street
  6. Turn left onto Cumberland Street
  7. Turn left onto St. Patrick Street
  8. Turn left onto Mackenzie Avenue

There is no parking available at Major’s Hill Park. We recommend parking somewhere in the ByWard Market, which is contained roughly by Sussex Drive to the West, Cathcart Street to the North, Cumberland Street to the East, and Rideau Street to the South. There are several pay parking lots within walking distance of Major’s Hill Park in this area.
